About Dr. McKee

Michael McKee, Ph.D., has extensive experience with the treatment of a range of behavior problems. He was trained in the use of cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT) by such leaders as Dr. Gail Steketee, Dr. Richard Heimberg, and Dr. Arthur Nezu. He now specializes in CBT for anxiety and depression.

In addition to maintaining his private practice, Dr. McKee is an assistant clinical professor of medical psychology in psychiatry at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. He teaches postdoctoral fellows and pre-doctoral trainees cognitive behavioral psychotherapy.
Dr. McKee is a research scientist in the Gambling Disorders Clinic of the New York State Psychiatric Institute. He has participated in a number of National Institute of Mental Health-funded projects. Recent projects studied the effectiveness of CBT for gambling addiction, social anxiety, hypochondriasis, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression in cancer patients. Formerly, Dr. McKee was assistant professor of psychology in psychiatry at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He treated patients and taught trainees in the ambulatory services department at the Westchester Division of New York Presbyterian Hospital from 1993 to 2000.
